The Innocent Auction by Victoria Sue
This book was a pleasant surprise. I had only read one regency romance and I am fairly new to the m/m read, so it was a challenge that I took on that completely paid off. This is the Story of Tom and Deacon, who meet in the most precarious situations. Tom is about to be auctioned off in an underground and very illegal event until Deacon decides to save him and employ him in one of his states. They don't see each other for a good half decade before they cross paths again. And boy, is it steamy. It has that p eush and pull quality that keeps the reader interested and starving for more.
I loved the imagery in the book because it helped me place the characters' sorroundings as I have no proper experience from dated England. It was amazing!
It was important for me for the regency part to be accurate so I consulted with a history expert to make sure everything was on point.
And he confirmed it was.
I absolutely loved that! And that you could see the author did her research.
I also hated the female character from the start. That whole "damoiscelle in distress" did not work even then. Just know you will hate her too. I think I screamed just "shut up" a couple of times.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
A must read for 2016
